Self-Care & Mental Health for Schools & Organizations
Through my career as a community organizer, social worker, teacher, and therapist, I have met hundreds of people who are helping everyone else while largely disregarding their own mental and physical health. Folks in public service and helping professions are exhausted, demoralized, traumatized and heavily criticized, but still continue to move forward for the sake of making life better for others, even when their needs have historically been ignored.
Radical Joy aims to make sustainable change in order to improve their mental and physical health so that these invaluable staff stay in these crucial professions long term.
Radical Joy does this by providing:
Mental health & wellness workshops for educators, social workers, and other public servants
Long-term consulting to schools and organizations to make policies more aligned with wellness standards
One to one mental health counseling/coaching to those deeply struggling in their profession
Services that support BIPOC/BAME people in these professions to help them manage the additional layer of pressure that they experience
During these sessions, we cover:
How our personal beliefs prevent us from taking good care of ourselves
How societal values impact our relationship with work
The true meaning & importance of self-care & mental health
How to process secondary trauma we experience while supporting others in our work
How to fit mental wellness practices into busy schedules and tight budgets
How small shifts in school/organization policies and culture can improve staff mental health
We've earned praise for being engaging, compassionate, witty, and knowledgeable. Participants also appreciate the use of real-life scenarios and actionable steps that are relevant to their day to day lives.
